Welcome Kate, our SCITT student!

Welcome Kate, our new SCITT student.  Kate will be working with lots of groups from across the key stages, helping them develop their language skills.  Kate has an interesting background having worked as a volunteer in Latin America for a number of years. - Rehearsing your presentations! is a great website that allows you to paste in text that you have copied and will present it as a teleprompter like the newsreaders on the television use.  It is an excellent tool to help you rehearse your presentations, and allows you to focus on the timing and your intonation.

Bienvenue Manon!

Welcome Manon.  Our new French assistant who comes from near Toulouse, in the south of France.
Manon's parents are Dutch, so Manon speaks fluent Dutch too!
Like Cristina, Manon will be working with small groups of students helping them improve their fluency and confidence in speaking French.

Las monas de Pascua

Year 7 and 8 Spanish pupils were busy over Easter researching the Spanish tradition of 'Las monas de Pascua', or Easter cakes. Their homework task was to research, and then create a design of their own. As you can see the results were delicious! Ñam Ñam.

Group Talk

El día de San Valentín

Romance was in the air for Valentine's Day this year.  Here are a few of the creations from Year 8 who wrote some romantic and some fairly unromantic poems to celebrate the day!

Adéu Joan

At half term we said farewell to our Comenius Assistant Joan Sempere Ventura who came to us courtesy of the Comenius scheme.

Joan has proved to be a real asset in both the history and MFL department's contributing to our pupils' teaching and learning.

Joan is actually keen on building human towers, a tradition in Catalonia and is a member of a 'casteller' group.

We wish Joan every success in his wish to become a history teacher in Spain.

Searching for past paper practice?

Do some languages sound faster to you than others?

Ever thought that in some languages people speak faster than in others?  Well it's true!
But it doesn't mean that they are saying more in a fast language than in a slow one.  It's the word density that counts.
So while Japanese and Spanish sound faster than English and Chinese - they're actually saying less!
